Managing associate
Serena is a senior associate in the firm's employment department. She is a pragmatic and energetic employment law adviser who provides clients with advice on a range of legal issues. Serena has advised clients in various sectors on a variety of employment tribunal litigation including successfully defending a high value claim for constructive unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and discrimination.
As well as conducting litigation on behalf of both employers and individuals, Serena advises on pre-termination issues including handling grievances, disciplinaries and sickness absences. She has particular experience in advising employers and individuals on employment law issues arising from criminal and regulatory investigations.
Serena advises on post-termination restrictive covenants and the protection of confidential information. She has also supported employers in large scale redundancy exercises and complex misconduct investigations.
She also negotiates settlement agreements for both employers and individuals, regularly reviewing, drafting and updating contractual documentation as well as providing bespoke training on HR issues for clients.
Many of Serena's clients have international operations. She regularly advises international and national clients on HR issues arising from the sale and purchase of UK businesses.
Serena advises the boards of listed companies on contractual terms for directors and senior management. She also assists with the preparations for board-level exits.
